Topics will include appropriate use of Cache and Session State, as well as how and when to use them. Viewstate management and methods to minimize its use will be discussed. Code to pop up a warning when a threshold is met in development will be shown. When and how to take advantage of Server Farms will be discussed, as well as trouble shooting techniques to find problems. The evils of Server Affinity, as well as a common pattern for caching database queries will be shown to be wrong. Time permitting, we will talk about using Microsoft?s Ajax.asp.net with UpdatePanel and webservices and how these affect performance and scalab

This session will demonstrate how you can write .NET assemblies
in modern, standard Java (JDK 1.4). You can make full use
of the 1.4 JDK libraries, or any jar library for that matter,
and your code will run at full, native CLR speed. No proprietary
tools needed.
</p>
<p>
We used this technique at Mark Logic to deploy Java and .NET
versions of our XCC contentbase connector. The .NET
connector embeds the Java code -- completely unchanged -- to
implement the core functionality on .NET.
You may have heard of the term "Design Patterns". This session is for anyone who is unfamiliar with Design Patterns or who doesn?t understand how knowing about design patterns will make their life easier (it will.) We will introduce the concepts and a number of examples.

Everyone who codes uses Design Patterns whether they know it or not. Understanding the basics of design pattern concepts will take you to a point where you can design much more complex solutions than just puttering around on your own. And since it defines terms for concepts you use, it can make communicating with other programmers m
